Sermon Outline: "Strangers and Pilgrims – A Parade of Nations"

Text: Hebrews 11:13-16; Revelation 7:9-10; Matthew 24:14
Speaker: Pastor Giancarlo de Miranda

I. Introduction: Celebrating Global Faith

A. Cultural Diversity in God’s Family

  • Fun facts about global customs (e.g., French snails, Korean red ink taboos).

  • Point: Cultural differences highlight humanity’s richness but also pose challenges to unity.

B. The Gospel’s Triumph Over Barriers

  • Despite persecution (50+ countries oppose Christianity), the gospel thrives (Matt. 24:14).

  • Key Verse: "This gospel will be preached in all the world… then the end will come."

II. The Mission: Reaching Every Nation

A. Revelation’s Vision of Unity (Rev. 7:9-10)

  • Heaven’s scene: A multicultural multitude worshiping together.

  • Lesson: God’s kingdom transcends earthly divisions (race, language, tribe).

B. The Adventist Church’s Global Footprint

  • Present in 212/235 nations (UN-recognized).

  • Challenge: Supporting missions through tithes and personal involvement.

III. Living as "Strangers and Pilgrims" (Heb. 11:13-16)

A. Abraham’s Example

  • Identified as a "stranger and pilgrim"—his loyalty was to God’s promise, not earthly roots.

  • Modern Application: Our true citizenship is in heaven (Phil. 3:20).

B. Moses’ Choice (Heb. 11:24-26)

  • Rejected Pharaoh’s palace to suffer with God’s people.

  • Key Quote: "He looked to the reward"—eternal perspective over temporary pleasures.

C. Our Identity in Christ

  • Cultural Pride vs. Eternal Priorities: Celebrate heritage but prioritize God’s kingdom.

  • Illustration: Like immigrants learning a new language, Christians "speak heaven’s culture."

IV. Three Purposes of Today’s Celebration
  1. Celebrate God’s Power

    • The gospel breaks barriers (language, tradition, persecution).

  2. Renew Our Mission

    • Local churches have a global responsibility (Rev. 14:6).

  3. Affirm Equality in Christ

    • "God sees one race—the human race" (John 3:16).

V. Closing Appeal: Embracing Our Heavenly Homeland

A. Revelation’s Promise: No more seas (no separation), no more tears (Rev. 21:1-4).
B. Call to Action:

  • Live as pilgrims—invest in eternity.

  • Support missions; pray for persecuted believers.

Final Hymn: "We Have This Hope" (or a multicultural worship song).

Benediction:
"May we live as citizens of heaven, united in Christ, until the day we join the great multitude before His throne. Amen."

Key Quotes & Stats:
  • "Christianity is in virtually every country—this is Matthew 24:14 fulfilled before our eyes."

  • "Heaven’s official language isn’t Portuguese or English—it’s worship!" (Humorous touch).

  • Adventist Mission Fact: 212 nations reached; 23 to go.
